Taya Vande Vegte the Artist

Sculptor, Painter, Whimsical & Pop Digital Artist

Taya's Story of Becoming a Full-time Artist

During my years in college, I found a love for sculpture. In one of my last assignments before graduating, we were given the freedom to create whatever we wanted. While brainstorming on what to do, I looked around my bedroom to discover the things that make me, me. I came upon my bright blue, small beginner's acoustic guitar, which I am still trying to play, along with a box of old 45 records that my Grandma gave me for my birthday. My idea was immediately born, and I came up with a sculpted guitar that homed a 45 record inside. I then decided to paint it with the bands that inspired me at that time.

While coming up with other ideas for guitars, I found it easier to create the designs digitally on my iPad rather than sketching them out on paper.
The more I worked on my iPad, the more I found a love for digital art, a new form of art that I never even imagined working with. From this, I began creating prints of my favorite music artist along with colorful, whimsical creations of my own that express my silly and unique personality. The type of art that makes others smile and perhaps bring back fond memories.
